We have worked with Dorset Life for many years. Based in Wareham, the magazine’s staff publish the monthly magazine, a digital app, and occasional specialist publications. The Dorset Life team also maintain a busy website which boasts a huge archive of print articles and images going back nearly a decade.
The website offers a range of print and digital subscription flavours to UK or overseas customers. Our latest project for Dorset Life involved adding a Direct Debit option to the subscription product range.
Adding direct debit signups online involves satisfying strict compliance requirements. We had to:
- Ensure the customer is the sole account holder
- Verify customer’s UK sort code and account number
- Allow Dorset Life to send new subscribers to their bank
- Hold no customer bank details in the WordPress database
We used the Ninja Forms conditional logic plugin to add advanced logic to the basic signup form. And we integrated with Loqate to include a robust bank account verification step as part of the direct debit signup process.
We also had to create a way for Dorset Life staff to send the new subscribers to their bank. This was done via a bespoke entry in the WordPress dashboard menu, allowing staff to export selected records to a CSV file.
