We have a number of public sector clients, so 2020 was a year for thinking about website accessibility. The Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations law came into effect in September, requiring government and publicly controlled or funded organisations to ensure their websites (and other digital properties) do not exclude those with impaired hearing, movement, sight, and cognitive abilities from accessing their services.
Beginning in 2019 we worked with several public sector clients to audit and revise their websites to ensure compliance.
We also helped with training and a PDF handbook so that website editors and contributors understood the new requirements and could actively engage with the new standards.
One of the largest of these projects was with Colehill Parish Council.
